Inaugural Ignighter Post/Final Sparkker Post
Welcome to the Ignighter Weblog! Confused yet?
You’re probably thinking, “Wait what happened to the Sparkker Weblog? That was absolutely my favorite thing to read while I lounged around the house in my Sparkker Hoodie and Sparkker mesh gym shorts after a Sparkker date!”
Well the Sparkker Weblog, and the Sparkker app as we know it, are no more. Why? Because due to a potential trademark issue, our worry-wort legal advisers explained that it is best to be cautious and Sparkker was a dangerous name to go with.
So in an effort to concentrate all of our efforts on better serving you, our loyal fans and users (and not concentrate them on serving as a defendant in a copyright infringement case) we’ve decided to change our name to Ignighter! And we’re very happy.
For the most part, our focus groups really seem to like the name. People say it sounds “sexy”, “hot”, and “arson-y”.
Some of our more academic (read: ubernerd) fans have tried to point out that “ig” as a prefix can sometimes “have negative connotations”. What are the hell are those ignoble ignoramuses talking about?
They’ve clearly forgotten about all the good words that start with “ig”! Igstatic. Igalitarian. Iggy Pop. No contest.
We’ve always been very fond of the name Ignighter too. If you read our Inaugural Sparkker Blog Post you’ll see that it was a front runner in what is now commonly referred to as the “Great Naming Scare of ‘07″.
On a more personal note, rereading the blog makes me aware of the fact that my early nomenclative (*word invention alert) life igzactly mirrors that of Ignighter! We both entered this world with one name, and ultimately made the change to a more suitable, more legal friendly one. But enough about me.
So if you haven’t already noticed the move, you soon will. By the end of today virtually everything Sparkker will now say Ignighter, with our cool new logo! The application, the homepage, even the Sparkker hoodie and Sparkker mesh shorts you’re wearing right now, will all change to reflect our new, igciting name!
