Yibo Knows

This week we added another fantastic intern to our team: Colorado University computer science grad student Yibo Zhu.

Yibo (choosing not to be pictured), a native of China, joined the team just in time. For one, we’re doing a product demo tomorrow night and he’s been a great resource for squashing potential bugs in our system. But perhaps more serendipitous is the fact that we had our first bit of Chinese news coverage yesterday (click here to see) and he can translate! In the past we’ve had pieces in Russia and Japan, but getting the word out in China is a great way to honor our newest team member.

Ignighter Press Conference
The title of the article is “Many People are Still Looking for True Love” and they feature three new dating sites to help men and women find it.

The Ignighter section translates to:

Ignighter: It’s an interesting idea, which points out the weakness of the online dating systems — “once entering the dating system, you seems to be isolated from the outside”. At the beginning, you are a 3 guys group, once join Yahoo!Personals, you’ll be separated. Each guy enters a single room. This policy is to protect people’s privacy, but it’s unnecessary for boys and girls who are still single. Ignighter’s idea is group dating. Groups date with groups. This site is a start-up.

Does that make sense to you? Yibo promises it’s a very positive write up and we willingly believe him.

On a side note, before Yibo translated it, I ran the article through a Google translator and there was actually a sentence that read, “Ignighter flagship is the “friends group” to each other, a group of single men, about to join stirred up trouble; stem of a group of women, with some guts to hit-hit each other!”.

Huh? I had to share that one.

Thanks Yibo and welcome aboard!
