Podcast about the current state of online dating

Recently Twanna Hines, the Funky Brown Chick herself, did a podcast with CBC Radio: Spark in which she discusses the merits and growing phenomenon of Group Dating.

The podcast is here.

We’re always blabbing on and on about how the conventional dating sites simply haven’t adapted their models to reach a young audience. It’s nice to see that dating and relationship experts really agree!

Can anybody translate this?

Ignighter popped up on another Asian website (it’s happened a few times before) that was probably doing a story on new dating sites since they featured us, Crazy Blind Date, and Girls Ask Guys.

The story is here in Chinese. Can anybody translate?

Is Group Dating only an American phenomenon?

Yesterday, I posted this little tidbit to the TechStars Community Page and figured I’d share it here too:

As you probably know, Ignighter is a group dating site. But what you may not know is that group dating happens all over the world. Obviously in any particular American city on any particular Saturday night, you can find groups of guys informally going out with groups of girls, but have you ever heard of a “compa”?

Group dating is a cultural norm in Japan and over there they call it “compa”, from the English word “companion”. Ignighter is definitely hoping to expand our reach into Japan to help facilitate these fun groups dates that are already happening all the time!

For more details on “compa” check out a post we wrote a few months back here. There are some interesting rituals attached to the compa that may surprise you!
